Preserve the POW In the single-player version of Mario Bros. Classic, you'll need all the help you can get. Don't use the POW Block until the screen is crawling with enemies. That way, you can take out multiple foes at the same time. Defuse the Fire Most often, you'll find yourself getting torched by fireballs more often than you get eliminated by other enemies. If you time your jump properly, these fireballs can be destroyed by jumping up and hitting the platform beneath them. Ice enemies can be destroyed in the same way. |

Garbage Goodies Jump in the Garbage Can to pick up special items which can help you eliminate enemies and other human players. If another plumber hops in the Can, stand on the lid to trap him with the trash. High Roller Each time an enemy is kicked, a Coin will pop out from a pipe near the top of the screen. Stay near these pipes to cash in your opponents' hard work. Turtle Trick To flip over a turtle, jump up an hit the platform beneath it. If you jump up and hit the turtle while it's on its back, it will regain its footing and resume its attack. Wait for your opponent to try to kick a flipped turtle shell, then flip it back over to launch a surprise attack. |

Divide and Conquer Talk to your friends and pick a portion of the screen for each person to cover. If you're playing with two people, divide the screen into two halves. If you're playing with four friends, divide the screen into four quadrants. Specialized Skillz If you don't like staying in an assigned portion of the screen, you can try to assign each player to a particular type of enemy. For example, one player could be in charge of taking out only turtles. |

Bash Birdo On most levels, you'll find a boss guarding the final doorway. Usually, your foe is Birdo. Birdo becomes more difficult each time you face her. Sometimes she spits fireballs, and other times she spits eggs. Jump on top of her eggs, then pick them up and toss them back at her. If she doesn't spit out any eggs, look for some mushroom blocks to throw at her. Girl Power Even though Peach doesn't pick up items as fast as Toad and other characters, she is an excellent choice for almost every level. Her ability to glide through the air allows her to float over most obstacles and gives her a wide margin of error when it come to tricky jumps. Give Peach a chance! Platform Pacifist Your first time through the game, don't worry about your score. Try to avoid most enemies, and only pick up an enemy if you absolutely have to. Once you've beaten the game once, try to defeat all of the enemies and earn a high score the next time you play through. |
